Paraguay’s Central Securities Depository (CAVAPY) said it is in the final stage of negotiations with international custodians and expects to close agreements during October.
According to its president, César Barreto, the first stage is intended to allow Paraguayan investors to access international securities through local brokerage houses.
What would change if the agreements are completed
A connection with international custodians could broaden the infrastructure available for cross-border transactions and facilitate access to international instruments from Paraguay’s capital market.
What should not yet be taken for granted
The agreements are still under negotiation. International access should not be presented as an already operational service, nor should an operating date be stated unless CAVAPY confirms it.
Radar view: this is a relevant signal of financial integration, but the next verifiable milestone is the effective closing of the agreements and the launch of the first stage.
