Implications for Paraguayan businesses
Radar analysis: Brazil’s policy rate is a regional reference, but it does not automatically set borrowing costs in Paraguay. These also depend on currency, maturity, collateral and the lender involved. Comparing nominal rates across countries can obscure currency risks and contractual differences.
Exporters with Brazilian customers should watch orders, collection periods and payment capacity. For importers, the invoicing currency and payment schedule matter. Joint investments require examining effective financing costs and renewal conditions.
What to monitor
The real’s exchange rate, credit conditions and actual orders will help assess the business implications. These are possible transmission channels, not effects already measured. An unchanged rate does not establish that the real, dollar or guaraní will rise or fall.
