Verified facts
The MOPC reported on October 28 that rural lot 1 of the Eastern Metropolitan Corridor is 87% complete. It covers 19.1 kilometres between Minga Guazú and Cedrales, with completion estimated for March–April 2027.
Other access roads, the Monday River bridge and border-control facilities form part of the programme. The projected USD 212 million investment refers to the overall programme, rather than this lot alone.
Radar reading
For carriers, warehouses and exporters, a nearly finished road does not yet justify budgeting shorter border-crossing times. Benefits require a continuous connection, usable access points and coordinated border operations.
Radar reading: assess locations and contracts under two scenarios: today's network and a corridor actually open to traffic. The decisive milestone is the commissioning of the necessary components, with verified access rules and operating hours. Freight savings should not be assumed without measuring routes and waiting times.
