US-based Crusoe and Paraguay's Araico announced a partnership on October 22 to develop AI computing infrastructure powered by Itaipú hydroelectric energy.
Project scope
Initial deployment is planned for mid-2027. The project could scale to 106 MW of IT capacity with long-term options for about 280 MW. These are plans, not operating facilities.
Company roles
Araico will lead local site development; Crusoe will supply and operate the computing infrastructure for Crusoe Cloud. No investment amount was disclosed.
Radar assessment
The plan may convert Paraguay's hydroelectric advantage into higher-value digital services, but its actual implementation depends on permits, construction and deployment.
