Paraguay's construction sector accounted for approximately 262,000 jobs in the second quarter of 2026, around 22,000 additional positions, according to figures presented by Industry and Commerce Minister Marco Riquelme at the sixth Cavialpa Forum and Exhibition. He cited 5.6% sector growth over the past year and said construction represented 6% of industrial GDP, based on his presentation. Beyond direct employment, construction supports demand for cement, steel, glass and asphalt, linking infrastructure with domestic manufacturing. The minister called for coordinating public works with national logistics and connectivity priorities, involving the National Logistics Commission and private-sector partners. He also highlighted MIC MAP, which provides district-level data on infrastructure, power availability, services and competitiveness to support decentralized investment decisions. Cavialpa president Paul Sarubbi emphasized opportunities for Paraguayan companies to adopt technology and undertake new infrastructure challenges. Radar analysis: higher employment and growth do not by themselves confirm new contracts or completed projects; actual competitiveness gains require financed, delivered and measurable infrastructure.
