Paraguay's peanut processors reported interest from European buyers following the SIAL food trade show in Paris. According to Hans Karl Janz, president of the peanut processors and exporters chamber (Cappem), Villafranca, Agromaní and Alpacasa presented products to prospective buyers. Buyer interest is not the same as confirmed export contracts.

Ten-year acreage target

The five association members estimate 20,000–25,000 hectares planted, subject to the final November planting figures. The sector aims for 100,000 hectares within ten years, a stated target rather than cultivated acreage already achieved.

Exportable production outlook

The chamber estimates 40,000–50,000 tonnes available for export in the coming campaign. This is a forecast, not verified shipments or booked sales. European buyers are interested in higher-quality products, while other markets and regional oil-processing industries can absorb different grades.

Investment implications

Expansion requires processing capacity, specialized machinery, traceability, quality standards, storage and logistics. Converting buyer interest into sustained sales will be the key performance test.

Radar assessment: growth should be measured by actual acreage, yields, contracts and shipments rather than aspirational acreage alone.
