Published: October 16, 2026. Radar Inversión assesses Paraguay's shopping-center sector using statements attributed to the Paraguayan Shopping Centers Chamber (CCCPy) and the Paraguayan Industrial Union (UIP).

A more measured pace

CCCPy president Andrés Kemper forecast sector growth of 7–8% for 2026 in an interview reported by Revista FOCO on October 12. This is a forecast, not a confirmed annual outcome, with year-end consumption expected to be important.

According to Kemper's statements reported by InfoNegocios in July, electronic transactions processed at POS terminals in the 25 member centers rose 4.4% year on year in the first half. This metric is not identical to total retail sales or the central bank's ECN indicator.

New exposure for local brands

The UIP Joven campaign “Paraguayo como vos” expanded into shopping centers in October, promoting Paraguayan clothing, footwear, accessories, and domestically produced goods. Six malls were identified for additional promotional activations.

The chamber has not yet provided a consolidated breakdown of local versus imported products sold in these centers. No causal effect on sales can therefore be quantified.

Implications for investors

Prospective tenants and mall operators should assess foot traffic alongside conversion, average ticket, occupancy and returns per square meter. Higher promotional activity does not, on its own, guarantee higher profitability.
