The Asunción Stock Exchange (BVA) recorded G. 43.108 trillion in trading volume between January and September 2026, a decline of roughly 0.99% from the same period of 2025, based on market analysis from Cadiem cited by local financial media. This is the nine-month accumulated total rather than turnover for September alone.
Monthly and cumulative figures are not interchangeable
September trading reached approximately G. 5.19 trillion, up 22.4% from August and 7.4% year-on-year. Confusing the monthly amount with the year-to-date total would distort interpretations of the market’s growth and liquidity.
The role of guaraní transactions and bonds
Around 71.2% of September trading was denominated in guaraníes and 28.8% in US dollars. About 80% of volume was secondary-market trading and approximately 20% came from the primary market. Fixed-income bonds remained the dominant instrument.
Radar analysis: stronger local-currency activity and new issuance are positive signals for domestic funding. But market depth requires more diverse issuers and investment instruments, not simply higher turnover.
